Music has the capacity to engage, entertain, challenge, inspire and empower students. At Redcliffe Primary School, students are provided with specialist music classes from Kindergarten to Year 6. Students participate in singing, movement, improvisation and composition, and lessons are structured sequentially to develop music literacy and a lifelong love of music.
The school has a well-equipped music program consisting of keyboards and an extensive range of tuned and untuned percussion instruments. Students in years 1-6 are explicitly taught the keyboard and recorder. At the end of the year, students have the opportunity to showcase their performance skills at our yearly Music Showcase. The showcase involves a variety of acts involving singing, instruments, dancing, and sometimes a combination of these skills! Students can perform solo or in groups.
All students are given the opportunity to join the School Choir program. The choir rehearses once per week. Traditionally, the school Choir has performed at “Carols in the Park”, school assemblies and special events throughout the school year.
